All the zany Wodehouse characters are here: Bertie, Gussie Fink-Nottle, Madeline Bassett, and Aunt Dahlia. All the humorous chaos of misunderstandings, puns, and pranks are present: someone must hand out prizes at the Market Snodsbury Grammar School, a lovers' spat finds Bertie engaged to Madeline, and a hunger strike causes the cook to give notice. The inevitable rescue by Jeeves, brilliantly conceived and executed, averts disaster and saves nitwit Bertie Wooster.

Acclaimed actor Jonathan Cecil brings comic flair to this rollicking tale by the man The Times (London) called "a brilliantly funny writer".

Critic reviews

"Jonathan Cecil reads the story with a fine ear for comic wordplay and absurdity, giving fitting caricatured voices to the likes of Fink-Nottle and Glossop. He gives Wooster's first-person narrative the right balance, letting the bumbling hero misread situations as needed. The chaos builds toward a crescendo of levity that will be a favorite among Wodehouse fans." (AudioFile)

Too funny from beginning to end. Sarcastic, witty, engaging, and outright hilarious every minute! Listened to it so many times, I’ve lost count.

This is my light fare between listening to heavier texts. Every time I hear Cecil narrate it puts me at ease and his performance never falls short. His voices for Jeeves and Bertram paint the perfect picture of the characters and their dynamic. A joy and a breeze to listen to every time
