It’s 1933 and the Nazis are coming to power in Europe. Albert Einstein is forced to flee Germany where there is now a bounty on his head. The Nazi intelligence service (Abwehr) has conspired to send their chief assassin, Hans-Peter Brumbach, aka Schere, to kill him. The French Resistance has discovered the plot and has warned British MI6 who sends one of their new agents, Nevil Rockland, aka Rock, to protect him as he travels between Europe, America, and England.
Rockland, essentially on his own, is aided by a US Army Nurse, Nora Fidd, and a French Resistance fighter, Elodie Tabruix, aka Papier, as he attempts to carry out his first real mission in the field. The stakes are high for Rockland’s career and the world.
Follow Rockland across the North Atlantic by military aircraft and down the eastern seaboard to Princeton, across the Atlantic via luxury liner, and then along Europe’s western coast by train, and ultimately on to England for an important meeting with Britain’s leaders. Rock and Papier must use everything at their disposal to fend off Schere while trying to avoid their growing feelings for each other.
