She is crass, has attitude, drinks too much, and is the only living agent working for Queen Victoria, the paranormal queen.

In 1901, Queen Victoria passed away and took over the responsibilities of the paranormal court.

When Victoria ascends to the paranormal throne, she acquires the help of a human agent, code-named Rogue.

For well over a hundred years, this human has helped settle problems between the normal and the paranormal worlds. Usually with massive displays of attitude and disrespect. And a really, really bodacious set of...guns.

Now, Rogue has been sent to the Colonies to help stop a paranormal revolution.

Is Rogue over her head, or is someone trying to pull a fast one on her?

Either way, America better be ready, because this paranormal agent parties like it's still 1899!

While this type of story isn’t necessarily my cup of tea, it was enjoyable enough that I will give book two a try. Mainly, for two reasons:
Primarily Justine Eyre is new to me but I thoroughly enjoyed her work in this book and will look for more from her.
Second, while I generally don’t listen to this genre of books I did find the storyline interesting enough to back it up a few times to catch something I had missed the first go around. The backstory was told in a manner that did not interrupt the narrative and was kept interesting and entertaining throughout the whole thing. The characters were “fleshed out” very well and made the whole thing interesting.
I’m definitely interested in how book two works with the way this one ended without giving anything away about it.

"What are you?" " Your worst nightmare " how many times that phrase was uttered was ridiculous.. It made the story a bit annoying. Good storyline tho.

Interesting yes but... too repetitive.

This was fun, one book rolled right into the other as Rogue and friends seek to ferret out traitors in the paranormal court and stop a war.
