Rome stood on the brink of annihilation. Hannibal, the Carthaginian mastermind, had marched across the Alps, shattered Roman armies, and left the Republic reeling from defeat. When all seemed lost, one young general rose to the challenge: Publius Cornelius Scipio Africanus; and changed the course of history forever.

In The Last Roman General, historian and storyteller Eric M. brings the life of Scipio to vivid life, tracing his journey from a noble youth to the conqueror of Africa and the man who finally defeated Hannibal. Experience the tension, strategy, and brilliance that defined Rome’s greatest military mind:

  • Witness the brutal battles of Ticinus, Cannae, and Spain, and discover how Scipio learned from disaster to triumph.
  • Explore his bold African campaign, where he turned Hannibal’s tactics against him and reshaped Roman warfare forever.
  • Step inside the political intrigues of Rome, where envy, suspicion, and fear shadowed even the Republic’s greatest hero.
  • Learn timeless lessons in leadership and strategy, drawn from Scipio’s genius and applied to modern life.

This is more than a military biography - it is a story of courage, innovation, and resilience, a portrait of a man who achieved greatness yet faced ingratitude and exile. Whether you are a history enthusiast, a student of leadership, or simply love a gripping story of ambition, genius, and triumph, The Last Roman General will leave you inspired.

Discover how one man’s intellect and audacity saved a Republic, defeated a legend, and became immortal in history.

This audiobook has a captivating narrative while still taking the history seriously. Complex battles are explained clearly, and I especially liked the chapters on Spain which are often glossed over in other works. Overall, a very solid biography.

This is one of the more engaging treatments of Scipio Africanus I’ve come across. Instead of being dry, the audiobook balances military detail with narrative momentum extremely well. I appreciated that Scipio is portrayed as brilliant but human, not a flawless hero. Highly recommended for anyone interested in Roman history or leadership.
