From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Princess Diaries series, comes the very first adult installment, which follows Princess Mia and her Prince Charming as they plan their fairy tale wedding—but a few poisoned apples could turn this happily-ever-after into a royal nightmare.

For Princess Mia, the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia’s gorgeous longtime boyfriend Michael managed to clear both their schedules just long enough for an exotic (and very private) Caribbean island interlude where he popped the question! Of course Mia didn’t need to consult her diary to know that her answer was a royal oui.

But now Mia has a scandal of majestic proportions to contend with: Her grandmother’s leaked “fake” wedding plans to the press that could cause even normally calm Michael to become a runaway groom. Worse, a scheming politico is trying to force Mia’s father from the throne, all because of a royal secret that could leave Genovia without a monarch. Can Mia prove to everyone—especially herself—that she’s not only ready to wed, but ready to rule as well?

I skipped through parts of the beginning.. Her detailed grocery lists were so boring and I'm still not sure why they wasted time reading them. But the story gets better after that and the narrator has a nice, peppy voice and I enjoyed it. For whatever reason I kept thinking Michael was going to be more of a main character or cause a plot shift, but he was just in and out of scenes. I would be interested to read the next book if there was one.

Enjoyed listening

The Princess Mia we grew up with is back and as charming as ever. But her insecurities have been dialed back in a refreshing and necessary way - hope it rubs off!!

She's back!!!

Rarely does a book come along that you want to listen to over and over again. For me, this is on repeat in my car. It is happy, upbeat, and has a few unexpected twists. I loved that I haven't read one of her books in years, but I easily caught up on the story.

I also loved it because the characters are my age. I may not be a princess, but I still deal with many of the things Mia deals with; balancing a career, a boyfriend, and sometimes overbearing family members. It's nice to feel comraderie with characters.

This book made me laugh, smile, and think about what is really important in life. I didn't cry, but that wasn't what I was looking for in this book anyways.

Great work from Meg Cabot!

great ending to a series that followed from teen to adulthood. loved the narrator. i think it's a good thing they switch her, because mia is a grown up and not a teenager anymore.
