Back in the harness after his abortive retirement to Florida, Rumpole glories in the mushroom pie, rainy day life of the Old Bailey. Here he spars with some old familiars like the venomous Judge Bullingham, and makes the acquaintance of some fresh foes. Six stories.

I’m a big fan of Mortimer’s Rumpole, and as usual, Tull’s narration reveals a deep knowledge of the story and characters. As in his work in the Master and Commander books of O’Brien, he can convey high wit in one moment, then nimbly tunes up the tension in the next.
Enjoy!

Patrick Tull- the best!

I returned to Rumpole after a few years. My memory of the stories was very positive but I was a bit disappointed. The plots are typically very clever but I found Rumpole to come across as rather unattractive.
