Rupert of Hentzau is a sequel by Anthony Hope to "The Prisoner of Zenda", written in 1895, but not published until 1898. This story commences three years after the conclusion of Zenda, and deals with the same fictional country somewhere in Germanic Middle Europe, the kingdom of Ruritania.©2017 SAGA Egmont (P)2017 SAGA Egmont Classics

Wonderful story with an equally wonderful performance. Be sure to listen to Prisoner of Zenda first.

Although I enjoyed this novel, it was not what I expected or rather hoped it would be. The novel does continue with the adventures of Rudolf Rassendyll, but I had hoped it concentrated specifically with Rupert himself. I thought he somehow would have been an anti-hero, made to do good when he in-fact wanted to do evil. I thought that would have been an interesting take on the series, but alas that was not so. It was a let down in that capacity, but I enjoyed the novel nonetheless. It is worth reading if you have read the first novel, “The Prisoner of Zenda.”
