Sunny Harper was born smiling.

Not just grinning, beaming. Even while locked in her attic “sky lounge” by her cruel, jam-slinging parents, she found silver linings. Rotten chores? “Free cardio!” Parental insults? “Loud poetry!” Her sunshine wasn’t just contagious, it was magical. Thanks to her glowing Gratitude Jar and a mysterious locket humming with golden wisps, Sunny’s joy made Starbloom Hollow blossom.

But when a flood sweeps in, a fire rages, and betrayal hits close to the heart, Sunny’s smile fades for the first time. Her orchard is ash, her hope is gone, and the town begins to dim with her.

Now, her skeptical science-loving friend Lila, the kind-hearted but misunderstood Ezra, and even reluctant bully Dwayne must rally the townsfolk to return the joy Sunny once gave them. From attic clues and magical chambers to banned books and lopsided lanterns, they uncover the truth about the Starbloom Wish, and the power of shared light.

Told with a cheeky wink and bursting with heart, Sunny Side Up is a hilarious, heartwarming, and hope-glowing adventure about the girl who gave joy, and the town that gave it back. For every reader needing a reminder: even when your spark fades… others can help you shine.

The AI narrator frequently paused in places it shouldn't, making it difficult to focus on the story. The story was okay but seemed to drag for the last several chapters. I kept thinking it was about to be over, but it wasn't. I liked that the theme is about holding onto hope and being kind.
