The authors pointed out that to acquire even a moderate knowledge of the various beliefs, which shaped ancient culture therefore entails the reading of literally hundreds of volumes. Many of these works are quite rare and, in the United States, can be found in only a few great libraries. Moreover, they were written by scholars for scholars and are so technical and dry that even if the general reader had access to them, he would probably not have the patience to struggle through them. The author believes, therefore, there is urgent need for a work, written not for the scholar, but for the general public, which will give them a broad, panoramic picture of the ancient customs and beliefs from which our principal beliefs, religious and otherwise, were developed. This is what I have tried to accomplish. The contents of this book were assembled from notes gathered from a wide variety of sources over many years!
Ernest Busenbark (1887-1982) Florida Artist In the art world, Busenbark did it all: professional illustration, graphic design, watercolors, oil paintings, art instruction and was a published author. He is a listed artist with scant details, yet an article from the St. Petersburg Times stated that he had studied with Authur W. Best, a prominent San Francisco landscape artist. He also studied at the Chicago Art Institute, the Artist Student League and the Cooper Union Institute in New York City. He maintained a studio for many years in NYC before going to Florida in 1955. Upon his arrival in Florida, he jumped right into the Florida art scene, and quickly became the President of the Clearwater Art Group and was hired as an instructor at the Florida Gulf Coast Art Center.
