Intriguing, Passionate and Action Packed

I loved that the development of the characters. I enjoyed all the twists and turns in the fight scene. The tie-in to Volume 1 is delightful!

feels like half a story

This is a short book that doesn't feel like a full story. it ends in the middle of things. I understand leaving some plot lines unresolved to continue the series but I feel the author left *everything* unresolved. I can't give specifics without spoilers. I also didn't find that the relationship developed between the main characters very organically. It felt rushed to me. The overall balance of main plot, romance and action was good.
As for the narration, I should preface by saying that I hate dual narration. switching between narrators for the chapters feels kind of inconsistent. I always end up favoring one or the other and I get disappointed when we switch to whichever narrator I don't like as much. That said, the narration was okay but not my favorite. The female narrator wasn't totally flat but she kind of lacked emotion. I also really hated her "male voice". I preferred the male narrator overall.

I really liked keeps you entertained and definitely different from other books. Narrators were excellent. Recommend it!

Sacrifice by Amanda Bridges (Brides for the Houses of Fate, Book 1)

This is a story about a human female abducted by non-human aliens. She winds up as a reward for a warrior who battles like a gladiator in order to stay alive. The aliens in charge have conquered these Warriors and imprisoned them. Now they use the captured Warriors as entertainment and to earn money from others betting on the games. In my opinion, this is a lackluster story. Partly due to do with the actor’s voices and the script not seeming to align. Another downfall is the book is a cliffhanger and requires purchase of more of the series books to get to a real ending.

Oh Miranda

I admittedly have a Love Hate relationship with Miranda's books. This one is no exception. It is confusing at the start, then hot and heavy, good action and drama, and then just...ends. It ends almost in a cliffhanger. I was expecting a bit more of team freedom progress, but no. It ends long before any real planning starts so I was a bit pissed off considering the next book wasn't available at the time. I waited to review this because I was stewing over it, but now that the next books are available, I'm going to let it slide and once again give Miranda a pass cause I hate that I love her stories so much I can't stay away.
