This best-selling series comes to a rousing conclusion as Celie and her family set sail on a ship made from their beloved castle! After constructing a grand ship built from parts of the Castle, Celie, Lilah and Rolf are ready to set sail! But on its maiden voyage, the ship steers them far off course into uncharted waters. Celie and her sister, Lilah, hope that the ship is heading to the ancient island where unicorns once roamed, but as the journey grows longer and supplies run low, they could be in trouble. Can Celie and her family trust the ship just as they've always trusted the castle? Listeners will delight in this adventure-filled conclusion to Jessica Day George's best-selling series.

While this last book in the series was still plenty cute and entertaining (and BONUS POINTS: the queen even got to go along for the ride this time! Yay, for involved parents in a children's book!), I unfortunately didn't connect with it as much as the previous ones. I think it was because we had all this buildup for three books about "There are unicorns to be found!" and then we spent the majority of the story on a boat and only got the unicorns in the last 20%. There was also this entire new civilization with only 20% of book to explore it and by the end... I don't know. I guess I felt like, "That's it? That's the end?" I even re-listened to the end because it felt like I'd missed something, but no. That was it. *shrug*

I'm giving this book 3 stars because I didn't hate it, but didn't love it anywhere near as much as I'd hoped to. Just don't promise me unicorns for three books and then give me 80% boat+dangerous journey and only 20% unicorns. I. Wanted. The. Unicorns.

Needs more unicorn
