Everyone has secrets. Sometimes secrets can get you killed.

After ten years in the big city, Cassie Holt is moving back to her hometown to take over the bookstore left to her by her beloved Gram, vowing to live her life alone. To her best friend, Sheriff James Marsten, Cassie seems to be the same girl that left Fairfield Corners to go to college but Cassie has secrets and one of those secrets could get her killed. When one of her secrets becomes a threat to her life, James turns to his new deputy to help him keep Cassie safe.

Deputy Logan Miller has been burned by love and is not looking to get involved with anyone anytime soon. When he is thrown into close quarters with Cassie, the sparks begin to fly and he begins to see through the walls Cassie has built around her heart. As the threat gets closer, can Logan protect Cassie and protect his heart? (MA, 18+ for sexual situations).

I knew this was paranormal mystery going in so when the ghost appeared, I took no issue with that. I did not, however, develop any affection for the main character, Cassie. She was just 'meh'. I found her rather tedious and melodramatic over things she shouldn't be and blase over things that should have taken her over the edge. She was hard to like and since she was the main character...

I liked the narrator but not enough to continue with this series. I'm one and done.

I'm not sure how I feel...

okay Romance novel, not my cup of tea

romantic fiction novels are usually not my thing. But a good plot and good characters can save that. The narration left a lot to be. But i think without a good material to read no reader could have saved it. Not sure i would recommend this to people that were not a fan of the genre but if you are it might be your cup of tea.

Saving Cassie (Fairfield Corners #1) was a good ready by L.A. Remenicky. Cassie Holt has spent the last ten years in the big city. But she returns to her hometown to run the bookstore her grandma left her. Her best friend Sheriff James Marsten sees the same girl who left the years ago. He never thought that she had secrets that could get her killed. One of the secrets threatens her life and James turns to his new deputy, Logan Miller, to keep her safe. Sparks begin to fly between the two as they get closer. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by L.A. Remenicky.

Saving Cassie by L.A. Remenicky has many layers to it. I was intrigued by the book blurb, and jumped at the opportunity to listen to a review copy. I loved the suspense the author wrote into this book and how the paranormal elements were woven in. I've always loved romance books that feature a second chance, and this one does not disappoint. The imagery in this book is fantastic. I could envision the bookstore with ease, and I loved Cassie's relationship with her Grandmother. I was truly impressed by the narration by Shelly vanderGaag! She performed many characters using distinguishable voices for each. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator. I received a review copy of this book and am voluntarily writing this review.
