For ten years, Anthony Westfield, Viscount Somerton, hasn't been able to forget the woman with whom he spent one scandalous night. When their paths cross again, he's shocked to discover Victoria Seaton is an accomplished pickpocket. But Somerton leads a double life of his own. Working on an undercover assignment, he makes Victoria a proposition: pretend to be his mistress or risk ruin. Yet soon he's tempted to turn their charade into reality - and surrender to an explosive passion.

Victoria can't believe the man who almost destroyed her life a decade ago is now threatening to unravel her secrets. But posing as his mistress at a holiday country party is a game she can play well. For just one look into Somerton's eyes still weakens her with lust. And with Christmas fast approaching, every kiss they share under the mistletoe only makes Victoria fall more deeply in love.

I wanted to find out what happened to Anthony. I was not disappointed. Without giving away spoilers, I wanted see how all the lies would unfold. However, I am not happy with MacNab.

Very Enjoyable Book and Series

I started this series with this, the fourth book. I think that was a mistake. I have since read the third book and that one made me like the lead guy in this book better, so start at the beginning! Having said that, I found this book to be entertaining enough. I rated it a little lower than usual, only because it had someparts that I think were dragged out a bit too long. However, when I got to the last third of the book, I was glad that I had been persistent in reading. It really picked up toward the end and went out with a bang!

Good book with some slow parts

I absolutely adore the series. I somehow managed to skip the first two books and read the third and I liked it so much that I purchased the last two books and read them all in three days. Now I must go back and read the first two books. The characters are built so completely that as a reader you really feel connected to them. Yes as most books go, in order to have the story last longer, the main characters always have to fight their inner feelings and go against what they truly want in order to “save” the person they love and this series is no different. To tell the truth I do not find this appealing at all in romance. Perhaps that is a personal fault of mine and not that of the author. And yes I do believe in sacrifice but once I make up my mind I dive in and don’t leave room for doubt and try never to second-guess myself. So it’s hard for me to see all the inner push and pull associated with characters in romance in general. Still, I strongly recommend at least the last three books I have read in the series regardless of my distaste for the parts mentioned.

What a great listen/read. Yeah, I listen while I read along.
I loved Anthony and Victoria and it was so nice to visit with all the other characters from the other stories: Jeannette, Avis, Elizabeth, Sophie, Shelby, etc.. Such great heroes and heroines.
And, Ms. MacNab, as always, was phenomenal.

Wonderful..

This book was awesome. I loved that Victoria with such a strong character. I loved her background, and what she did to survive and thrive. There was so much depth to the story, including all of the background for Anthony. Everything came together, so well. This book includes a subject that may be hard on some readers, depending on their background. There is a pretty detailed, attempted rape scene and another uncomfortable scene. If this is a hard subject matter for you to listen to, I’d suggest skipping this book. I think the fact that the characters are strong enough and supported enough to get through things really helps the story. I have been wanting Anthony to find love since the beginning of this series so I was excited to listen to this book. It did not disappoint.

Fantastic Story
