After a body is found in a local farmer's field, country store and café owner Robbie Jordan suspects that a newcomer in South Lick, Indiana, may not be a stranger to everyone in town . . .

Robbie is just weeks away from giving birth. While her husband Abe scrambles to get the house ready for their baby's arrival, Robbie makes last minute arrangements to keep her shop and restaurant, Pans 'N Pancakes, up and running when she's on maternity leave. And it seems Robbie and Abe aren't the only ones grappling with anxiety—a stranger is causing a stir in town and Robbie's Aunt Adele appears unusually preoccupied at the baby shower . . .

But when someone finds a body in the ram field on Adele's sheep farm, it's Robbie's turn to be worried. Especially after Chief Buck Bird uncovers a troubling link between Adele and the possible murder victim. Robbie has no choice but to knit the clues together and solve this mystery before anything else gets flocked up . . .

Maddie Day has written another great installment in the Country Store Mystery series. All the usual characters are present and there’s an intriguing mystery to solve as well.
Laural Merlington as always gave a standout performance as she breathed life into the storyline and gave each character their own distinct voice.
I highly look forward to the next in series.

Another great installment

It was a good story. However, the narrator did not sound appropriate for the main character.
The character is in her 30’s. The narrator sounds twice that age and with dentures. I am not condemning her age because I am that age also. However, the voice just did not match the main character.

Narrator Not Appropriate

Great book in an equally wonderful series! A dead body is found in Robbie Jordan’s Aunt Adele’s sheep farm. What will happen first: Robbie solves the crime or her baby arrives? The narration is excellent.

Great cozy mystery!

Overall I enjoyed this book in the Country Store Mysteries series, and I hope there are many more entries in the series to enjoy Robbie, her crew, her family, and her business, Pans and Pancakes. I have to agree with some of the other reviews regarding the narrator, Laural Merlington. She is an excellent reader, but her voice does not sound age appropriate for the early 30-something Robbie. I will also say that by the last chapters, I, too, was more than ready for Robbie to have that baby. I had had a surfeit of her pregnant belly, her womb, and her lady parts (Does anyone still use that term??) by the time this book drew to a close. I liked the little twist at the end as the mystery was solved, even though it was not a big surprise ...but I won't be a spoiler!!

A Nice Little Cozy Mystery
