She just witnessed her uncle's murder, she's running for her life, and now Dr. Katelyn Lyda is face-to-face with a breathtaking man who could be her salvation. Tall, sexy, his eyes full of mysterious promises, he seems to have the answer she needs.

It's too bad Sebastian Caine is one of the bad guys . . .

A ""recovery specialist"" skilled at separating prized possessions from their owners, Sebastian is after an ancient relic. But he reconsiders the job when he finds himself staring at the wrong end of a gun. The beautiful lady with her finger on the trigger seems to have everything he needs—and not just the artifact. Sebastian's conscience has never bothered him before—but then he has never wanted any woman more.

With her life in jeopardy, Kat wonders how far she can trust Sebastian Caine . . . how long she can resist him . . . and dare she fall in love?

I was happy to read Sebastian’s story. His is a great character who appears in other books by this author. I really loved how Kat called him on his B.S. instead of falling victim to teenage like angst when he appeared to reject her. That was a nice change. Usually authors have the couple endure a dramatic break up and work their way back to each other. Some intrigue but you knew who the bad guys were early in. I like the reprisals by previous characters from other stories. Did not appreciate or enjoy the sex scenes which I feel always detract from a book and basically waste pages. All in all I would recommend.

I really wanted to like this book, and perhaps in the hands of a different narrator, I might have. The performance was just terrible! Many mispronounced words and so many pauses where there shouldn’t be, it was just so hard to listen to. If I were the author, I’d be extremely angry with this performance. I’d like to try another book by this author, but if this narrator is involved, I won’t do it!!

Could have been a really good storyline, but the narration was absolutely cringeworthy

i liked the storyline and the plot, but I couldn't get past the narrators lack of proper pausing and inflections. It was very distracting and made the story line hard to follow. Why did he keep calling her HONEY, all the time? I kept yelling "stop calling her honey!". It was used inappropriately, too much and even after he dejected her. One last thing, an author is supposed to be descriptive, but too much is too much! Describe the scene and what is happening, dont just pepper in descriptors when not needed. "Her eyes were erect"? What?

Good plot, but hard to listen to.

I’ve always been a fan of old fashioned “who dunnits”! Secrets and Lies doesn’t disappoint. Well written and keeps you guessing until the end. Oh, did I mention it’s also an old fashioned simmering love story?

Secrets and Lies doesn’t fail!

I don’t enjoy sappy romantic novels, and I don’t always want to hear the detailed description of a sexual encounter. This book is neither of those things. There was enough romance, mystery and action to keep me intrigued and entertained, while rooting for the love story.

Waiting for the movie
