As a 13-year-old, Rafiq Williams travelled the desolate, sometimes violent, always drug-laced streets of Philadelphia’s inner city. Those streets could easily swallow up the most stable, strong adult. As a child, he learned to navigate those streets on his own---and he buried so many secrets that could destroy him. Could he silence the overwhelming traumas he experienced? Could he ignore the panic, the anxiety, the fear? Laser-focused, Rafiq chose survival---at any cost. That dark side he knew, and the only person he could rely on was himself. Until he was accused of murder.

This book truly kept me engaged from beginning to end. It had me on the edge of my seat the entire time, constantly wanting to know what would happen next. What stood out most was his deep passion for his family and his determination to never give up on his dreams, no matter the obstacles he faced. The way the author structured the story was seamless and thoughtful, making it easy to stay immersed throughout. Every chapter flowed naturally into the next, and the details were carefully crafted. A very well put together and compelling and inspiring read.
