Cassy smiled, blew them a kiss. ‘See you in September,’ she said. It was a throwaway line. Just words uttered casually by a young woman in a hurry. And then she’d gone.

It was supposed to be a short trip – a break in New Zealand before her best friend’s wedding. But when Cassy waved goodbye to her parents, they never dreamed that it would be years before they’d see her again. Loved the story - Norman explained the impact of loss so well - agree with other reviews that a nz narrator would have improved the overall listener experience- however this is the best of her books I have ‘read’ excellent

Page Turner, even in audio!

It was a great Page Turner, I loved it.

The plot was really original and drew me in early on.

Narrator has ruined it for me due to mispronunciation of Maori words.

I am a European New Zealander. I've been enjoying the story but the mispronunciation of Maori words is so bad that it detracts from the story line. Not sure I can listen to any more. I would suggest the narrator learns how to pronounce Maori words and re records those parts.

Performance

While the overall pace of the story was excellent, the pronunciation of Maori words and the general New Zealand accent were dreadful. At times the words were unrecognizable. A shame that it ruined an otherwise excellent telling.
