For more than 400 years, the personal essay has fused elements of the critical essay with personal discovery. Through adopting a first-person narrative I am able to use a loose conversational tone whichallows me the possibility to situate the role of "Caller" or "Storyteller as a dialogic one. The "Response" to the various essays is then a shared one, within a number of constructs, including one in which both Caller and Responder are the same person, as demonstrated by various art forms in song, in speech and in the church liturgy tradition, both from African American church, Catholic church, and the Islamic tradition. Within this context, education is played out, with all nations fully aware that future economic prosperity depends on a high quality education for its citizens. From a worldview of tolerance and respect for one another, in all our diversity, we see these essays as having validity both indivdually, and as a collective whole. This is a collection that all people, from all over the world, will find themselves reading with enjoyment, both from a cultural, linguistic, and historical viewpoint. Education Tradition
