Emma Hartley was looking for a fresh start. She searched the map, wondering where she should go. An ad for a job appeared at an odd hour. Rocktown, she thought, that's a weird name for a town. She searched for it, but there was no such place. Emma was sure she was dreaming, but something called her to the city that doesn't exist. She accepted a job and moved there. Emma loved her new life. She had an adorable house, a great job, a quirky community, and her best friend for a co-worker. Yet somehow, something was missing. She slightly envied the town that seemed to be paired off in couples and families. She secretly wished for some excitement in her life, maybe someone to greet her when she got home. Emma thought perhaps she would find what she was looking for in the new young lawyer in town. Steve was an enigma. Were they dating? Were they friends? Were they something in between? She couldn't figure it out, and the more Emma asked, the more confusing Steve became. Further, a crime spree ripped through town, threatening Emma's career and, worse, her life. Meeting a hot young doctor at the hospital took the sting out of almost dying, especially when he asks her to the town masquerade ball. The invite comes much to Steve's displeasure. Emma has the attention of two eligible bachelors, a career in jeopardy, and her beloved town is being destroyed, right before the town elders campaign to make Rocktown official! If that wasn't enough, Emma has been having dreams of a peaceful beach for awhile. Suddenly new things are added into the vision, and then they start to appear in real life. They all seem to revolve around who everyone describes as a man in black with piercing green eyes. Will Emma be able to decide between her suitors? Can she salvage her career? Will the crime stop before the town is destroyed? Who is the mystery man with green eyes? Will Emma's life return to normal, and does she want it to?
