Three women have been stripped naked, their throats slashed. Someone has put duct tape across their mouths and propped their eyes open.

Fresh off her first case, FBI Agent Chase Adams finds herself on the road again, this time with a new partner. But before she can even arrive in Chicago, the killer strikes again, bringing the victim total to four.

To make matters worse, the killer seems to be taunting Chase, leaving a trail of confusing evidence that leads to nowhere. The local PD is convinced that they're looking for a single suspect, a man who charms his way into women’s homes before seducing and murdering them. Chase, however, isn't so sure.

There's a shadow lurking, a suspect hanging just outside her periphery, one that may or may not be a demon from her own past. One thing is for certain, if Chase doesn't get her act together and catch the killer soon, she may very well become the fifth victim.

After I finished the first book I was done with this series but decided I'd give it another chance. I couldn't decide if it was the story or the narrator. After finishing this one I've decided it's both. The writing is not to my liking and the narrator makes it worse. The story is not believable to me.
