I was given an ARC for my honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this reading by JD of Sharon’s continuation story of Brady, Emma and Maggie. Maggie has gone to Mexico to provide Fr Salvador with her aid. However Brady discovers she has not arrived and contacts the mysterious Charlie for help. Charlie is reluctant but in the end provides assistance needed as things changed in the area Maggie was going. While Brady waits out and plans fir the rescue mission, he and Emma are having some fun. After going into town Emma has discovered baby chick and convinces her daddy they need some. Brady reluctantly agrees and they bring home baby chicks to include some that lay chocolate eggs. Emma is excited about those. However we still have Brady now working a mission to not only find Maggie who is trapped with several hundred others of several nationalities at the Mexican Airport. Will this retired special operator find his HEA, will Maggie get home. If you’ve read the book you know but you will thoroughly enjoy this reading of a truly great story.

I thought the narration was well done. Brady's emotions came across very well. While I think the narration served to enhance the story, it didn't change my review from when I read the book. I will post my review below.

Ebook Review
My recommendation would be to read Shadow of the Heart first. It will provide some background information for this book. I would also say that a reader could read this book, but I think it may leave someone with unanswered questions.

I am going to take a point of view that will probably be pretty unpopular. I thought Maggie was selfish. Extremely selfish. Her concern was not with Brady or their daughter Emma. It was with her calling. I could understand that she wanted to be of help regarding a horrendous situation. I could not understand that she could find no other way to do it.

I could not fathom after what she, Emma, and Brady had been through already, why would she voluntarily place herself in that kind of potential danger? Why would she think she would be safe? Why would she completely discount what her ex-Navy SEAL husband was trying to tell her? All because of her calling?

There was no consideration for child that had only been with her father for a few weeks. Her attitude made no sense to me. For what Maggie said she was going to Baja to do, I could not imagine that there was not another way to be found. Her whole attitude was off putting to me.

A pleasant surprise was having Fredo and Armani show up for the rescue mission along with the team from the first book. The mission prep and mission were the best part of the book to me. I thought Brady and Emma's relationship was sweet. The romance didn't feel all that romantic. I didn't feel a connection or any heat between Brady and Maggie. I almost felt sorry for Brady being so into Maggie. I would give this 3.5 stars.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
