In the harsh beauty of Australia's Red Centre, where the sacred monolith of Uluru dominates the landscape, Detective Sarah Reeves is called to investigate when tourist Michael Foster is found dead at the base of the rock at dawn.

What begins as a suspicious fall quickly reveals a tangled web of deception. The victim—a controlling Sydney accountant with a penchant for collecting others' secrets—was part of a close-knit group of six friends holidaying together at the luxury Sails in the Desert resort.

As Sarah and her partner Tom Bradley interrogate the group, inconsistencies emerge in their carefully coordinated stories. With each contradicting the others about their movements on the night of Foster's death, Sarah must determine whether he accidentally fell or was deliberately pushed to his death.

When evidence reveals the victim had discovered financial crimes and was blackmailing his friends, Sarah uncovers multiple motives among the group: an affair between the victim's wife and his colleague, embezzlement schemes worth millions, and long-buried secrets from university days.

With the vast, unforgiving landscape as backdrop, Sarah methodically dismantles each suspect's alibi, finding lies beneath lies.
