A terrifying entity stalks the small town of White Castle, leaving a blaze of blood and destruction in its wake. My home is ground zero for the malevolent power capable of corrupting a symbol of purity.

The supernatural factions are being manipulated by the devious head of The Order, and I am a pawn in their game. Working together with Hudson, the lord of shifters, we must fight against shadows to not only save my friends, but the entire town. Everything is on the line, my life, my secrets, and my heart. The problem is, this time we are taking on family. My family.

Blood is, after all, thicker than water.

Contains mature themes.

I don't like that it reads too much as an Ilona Andrews fan fiction for "Kate Daniels" series. There is too much main plot lines for the romanc part

I like the story over all.

Great second installment to a building story! We finally get some juice in the romance and what a Rollercoaster. There are also some major reveals in this book which are both shocking and satisfying. The ending does a great job of closing out this section of the story while also leaving so much more to be told in the next book.

Once again, the narrator is on point and does a great job of bringing the book to life. Love this narrator for the series!

Keep it coming

narrator did a great job but I would rate the book overall at a 2. The plot is the only thing stopping me from putitng this in the DNF pile.

The whys:
*Her friends are frustrating. She just let's them do whatever, even if it's clearly against her wishes. which, if they are really her friends, they would know she is against.
*2nd act breakup: How was this important to the plot? It seems like the author just threw it in for drama that didn't really have any real impact or meaning. There is mention of "the groveling will be worth it" but I didn't see ANY groveling. was Ch. 31 supposed to just make up for the earlier breakup decision?
Just frustrating that the FMC doesn't seem to have a backbone when it comes to her relationships.
