Originally from Brooklyn, Shang, a Carnegie Mellon graduate and aspiring illustrator, began his comedy career on a dare when a friend bet him $50 to take the stage during open-mike at a local comedy club. Shang won the bet, caught the comedy bug, and quickly became an underground favorite with his dark, avant-garde, socio-political style.

Shang's passionate and explosive humor has been showcased on Politically Incorrect, NBC Comedy Showcase, VH-1's The List, and Comedy Central's Comic Justice. He has also guest starred on episodes of The Jamie Foxx Show and The Parenthood, and he was selected as the "Best of the Fest" on HBO's Aspen Comedy Festival Special.

Editorial reviews

Shangry! is the first comedy album from Shang, a comedian from Brooklyn known for his explicit style and harangues on race, sex, and culture. With a high, animated voice and an apparent delight in his ability to shock and annoy, Shang treats listeners to his take on hip hop role models (Li’l Kim is not one of them, according to Shang), "menstrual Armageddon", women’s rights, and more. Shang has been featured on such programs as Politically Incorrect, NBC Comedy Showcase, and The Jamie Foxx Show. This performance before a live audience was originally released in 2000.
