Arrow have a speciality in publishing these sweeping historical novels. It is easy to see why the genre is so popular in general, but also why Nancy Revell’s books are so popular. Researched within an inch of its life; the novel is enjoyably entertaining. A perfect way to spend hours, wrapped up in the characters’ lives. This is the second book in The Shipyard Girls saga and it is not only just as good as the first, but a perfect continuation. Recommended reading.

Nancy creates strong characters that come alive as you read. I loved finding out about their individual journeys. Nancy writes about some serious issues but she writes it in such away that it is also filled with hope that things will get better. If you love reading about strong women, love and family in time of war this is a book for you.

Nothing better than getting to know these characters that start to seem like “real people” and follow their lives throughout the war! Big shout out to the authors who do such a fantastic job with just that - Ellie Dean, Helen Carey, etc!
