Shot All to Hell by Mark Lee Gardner recounts the thrilling life of Jesse James, Frank James, the Younger brothers, and the most famous bank robbery of all time.

Follow the Wild West’s most celebrated gang of outlaws as they step inside Northfield’s First National Bank and back out on the streets to square off with heroic citizens who risked their lives to defend justice in Minnesota.

With compelling details that chronicle the two-week chase that followed—the near misses, the fateful mistakes, and the bloody final shootout on the Watonwan River, Shot All to Hell is a galloping true tale of frontier justice from the author of To Hell on a Fast Horse: The Untold Story of Billy the Kid and Pat Garrett, Mark Lee Gardner.

if you are interested in gunslinger, and robbers none are more compelling than the James-younger gang. The book does a great job of briefly explaining the recustruction south to set the stage. Also the descriptions of the civil war battles and later shoot outs are so clearly described you feel as if you are witnessing it with your own eyes. Every detail of the northfield shoot out and its after math is explained. The extensive use of real quotes make this book a must read/listen for any amature historian of that period. No fluff all facts.

Close up look at Jesse James and his gang, centered on the Northfield Raid. Lots of good detail about the robbery itself and the subsequent posse chase. Johnny Heller was a terrific narrator, sounding like he just came out of the 1850s.

Heller is the star here. The narration of this book really draws you in. His drawl and rasp fits perfectly here. Highly recommended.

I was very impressed with the pace, detail and surprising storyline of a tale I thought I knew. Well written, well narrated, and transportive. A great audible book!

Surprising Story I couldn't Put Down

Well researched and well written. Very interesting story. The reader's failure to research a number of local pronunciations, especially for proper nouns, is somewhat distracting. Faribault is pronounced Fairibo. This is an obvious and distracting mistake on the part of the reader. There are others, throughout.
