In Shut Up and Eat!, humorist and parenting author Kathy Buckworth applies her razor-sharp wit to the family meal. Experts claim that sitting down to eat together can prevent children from getting into trouble while simultaneously creating close-knit families, but what about the son who thinks his food tastes better on the blue plate or the daughter who won’t eat anything green?

Laugh-out-loud funny and more accurate than most of us would care to admit Shut Up and Eat! is a must-listen for any woman who’s ever wondered: What the hell am I cooking tonight?

Editorial reviews

Feeding the kids can be a daily battle, and in Shut Up and Eat, Kathy Buckworth offers a humorous report from the front lines. She describes strategies for dealing with clueless husbands, wannabe-vegan daughters, sons who get body parts stuck in their food, and the constant allure of canned pasta. She also provides recipes to help draw a temporary truce, or at least provide more projectiles. Buckworth's own able narration gives the performance the feel of a dispatch from a trusted friend - one well overdue for a glass of wine.

love this. we used to eat dinners at home between soccer, boy scouts, tae Kwon do, and visitation. we either had one child or three two parents and at least one furry animal.

makes me long for a time when my kids were home

the narration is monotone and gets irritating after a while. I'm glad I got it for free because I would have demanded a refund if I even spent a dollar on this.

was told there would be humor. none in sight
