Sick Day

Livie Christiansen had been sick in bed for too long. The sixty-year-old, single woman was finding it too difficult to get back on her feet. At the suggestion of her sister, she reluctantly calls on Metro Services to deliver a temporary robot body. Livie transfers her consciousness into the metallic body and a new world opens up to her. She soon learns that the comfortable, secure world of 2070 is not what it seems. As Livie heads down the rabbit hole, she discovers that the world is a very sinister place indeed.

Jeff Nebeker-Johnson, the author of Darkness: A Slave's Story, delivers his first work of science fiction after years of writing historical fiction about slavery. Sick Day is not a departure from the important work of educating others about the horrors of slavery, but a warning to not repeat the cycle by giving up freedom for security.
