The bishop, Bible scholar, modern heir to C. S. Lewis, and revered author of Simply Christian and Simply Jesus offers a fresh look at the Gospel, explaining why Jesus’ message is “good news” and why it is more timely and transforming today than we know.

The Gospel means good news. But if the message has been around for 2,000 years, what makes it significant today? What’s so “good” about stories involving damnation, violence, and a God who sacrifices his only son?

Noted Bible scholar N.T. Wright shows us how Christians today have lost sight of what the “good news” of the gospel really is. In Simply Good News, he takes us back in time to reveal how the people of the first-century—the gospel’s original audience—would have received Jesus’ message. He offer a clear and thoughtful analysis of what the “good news” really is, and applies it to our lives today, revealing its power to transform us.

This book puts into perspective and understanding of the mission of Jesus as both the good news and the bringer of good news of God. It brings to light that which many of us growing up in the evangelical church have missed due to the wrong stories being told about who God is. It is beautifully written and at times will make you cry as you begin to grasp this good news. I would recommend this book to anybody and everybody both in the Christian faith and those who walked away because the news that they were given was not the good news Dr. Wright speaks about this book!

As for the audio, the recording and the dictation are excellent as always from this reader. His accent is so close to Dr. Wright that I often could hear his voice in the voice of the person reading.

This book is one of Tom Wrights best books, and I will come back to it time and time again to be reminded of the good news!

NT Wight at his best!

I wondered whether this book would hold my attention. Once I started, I couldn't put it down. Wright presents such a compelling case for how the First Century Christians viewed the "Good News" and how so many Christians have substituted inferior definitions, resulting in a diluted, less effective Gospel. As usual, N.T.'s insights are spot on and extraordinarily rich. This book has given me much more clarity about how to answer the question of "what's so good about the good news?" I'll be rereading this to glean more wisdom from it.

Worthwhile, Thought-Provoking!
