Kelvin Pierce was raised to be a hard core racist. His father, Dr. William Luther Pierce III, was founder and leader of the National Alliance, one of the most well-known White Supremacist organizations in the world. In 1978 William Pierce wrote The Turner Diaries, which has been labeled “the bible of the racist right” to this day. All the while, Pierce indoctrinated his son with tenets of White Supremacy, interspersed with physical and psychological abuse. A “Must Read “ for all Americans

I came across this book after reading his father’s book. I’m not sure what I expected here, but it sure wasn’t to have my eyes opened. This rare perspective will have an impact on anyone who listens or reads it.

I'm sorry he was your dad

Kelvin Pierce's Sins of My Father is as much an autobiography, a biography on his father, and a biography of American far right movements in general. It chronicles a lot of mental and emotional traumas and how they're responded to. Kelvin sunk inwardly with self loathing as a result of being brought up as the son of William Luthor Pierce, head of the far right National Alliance. Pierce didn't want a family and was an incredibly selfish man, an ego maniac. His vitriol for Jews, Blacks, and other racial minorities also extended to this family.

It's the 2nd biography to touch on Pierce's life. The first was written by an academic professor who sympathized with Pierce's views. This is not that at all.

Exploration of a conflicted releationship

I am not a big fan of most autobiographies, but Sins of My Father: Growing Up with America’s Most Dangerous White Supremacist intrigued me. Author Kelvin Pierce explores his conflicted relationship with his father, white supremacists William Pierce, founder of the Neo-Nazi organization, The National Alliance, and the author of the notorious Turner Diaries. W. Pierce abandoned his family for hate, dedicating his life to it. In his book, Kelvin recounts how his abusive father’s activities stigmatized him and his family and submerged him in a legacy of hate that he struggled to overcome. Throughout the book, the author acknowledges his paradoxical continued love for his abusive and infamous father, reminding us that the ties between a parent and a child can remain strong despite abuse and damage done to us and others.

The book does more than simply tell a “mommy-dearest” story of personal abuse. It explores William Pierce’s savvy use of the media to spread his gospel of race hatred, the techniques he used to target followers, and the ties and rivalries between the National Alliance and other racist organizations.

Mr. K. Pierce has taken a divergent path from his father’s teachings and his illness of hate. Where his father valued white supremacy above his family, Mr. K. Pierce follows a path of inclusivity, speaking out against his father’s work and founding a charity to help orphans in the Republic of Georgia, from where he adopted his two daughters.

His dad was mean to him, so he learned nothing

It's sad to hear about this man's troubled childhood and his quest to be loved by his father. He of course resents his father, and has therefore dismissed all of his father's opinions seemly with very shallow examination. He now has a very basic mainstream liberal point of view. Parts of this sound like a typical article whining and fear mongering about Trump. His father is more to blame for this than himself. Moral of the story is be good to your kids, and they might respect your beliefs. The son's story of adoption was probably the best part, and had me captivated. The behind the scenes drama within this movement was interesting to hear as well.
