From author A. R. Rose comes a modern Romeo & Juliet Reimagining for the listeners who live for enemies to lovers, stolen kisses, and family drama.

Her father murdered my uncle in front of me, starting a war between our families, and I learned from a young age to never trust a Paladino. But I never expected to be so captivated by the daughter of the very man I long to kill.

The sight of her, dancing in another man's arms, ignites a fury so powerful it catches me off guard.

My interest in her is dangerous, and the lines of my loyalty are blurring.

I should hate her. I do hate her.

At least, that's what I continue to tell myself.

Contains mature themes.

I really enjoyed the theme of this story — a modern-day twist on the classic Romeo and Juliet. It captures that fine line between love and hate so well, and the chemistry between these two is absolutely addictive. This is book one of a duet, so yes… prepare to be left hanging a bit. But honestly? Watching them hide their feelings is half the thrill. And Sly? He’s such a wonderful man, and I loved finally getting a look behind the cover everyone else thinks they know.

As for the audio: the male narrator nailed it. He shifted his tone and delivery seamlessly, making every character distinct and easy to visualize just by listening. The female narrator didn’t quite hit that mark for me. She read the story well, but the character-to-character transformation wasn’t as strong, so some of the vibrancy was missing.

Overall, still a really enjoyable listen with a story that pulls you in!

A lovely modern retelling
