Listeners are giving it five stars and calling it “unputdownable!” Sharp dialogue. Dangerous Secrets. Skeleton Tides is a psychological thriller packed with mystery, suspense, and a touch of dark romance. Private investigator Audri Ashe navigates the foggy San Juan Islands from her vintage yacht, addicted to cases that twist through political secrets, military corruption, and victims no one else will fight for.

But the real danger isn’t the crimes she investigates. It’s her ex-lover—a former NHL star turned coach—who has weaponized her darkest secrets. His psychological manipulation threatens her relationship with attorney Henry Ellis and could expose everything she’s buried.

Audri doesn’t get the luxury of solving one case at a time. Bodies drop, investigations collide, and truth never waits its turn. In the Pacific Northwest’s pristine waters, the most treacherous currents run beneath the surface. And someone is watching the watcher.

Perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn, Tana French, and James Patterson. Skeleton Tides is Book One in the Audri Ashe Private Investigator Series. It’s a noir psychological thriller about dangerous secrets, damaged people, and the fine line between hunting predators and becoming prey.

Skeleton Tides by J.J. Ellen pulled me in immediately. The story feels vivid and atmospheric, and the dialogue is so natural it often felt like I was right there in the scene; especially on the boat in the San Juan Islands. Audri Ashe, the main character, is captivating. You immediately sense there’s far more beneath the surface of her character, and I’m excited to see how Ellen continues to reveal her layers in future books; her wit, intelligence, investigative instincts, and undeniable allure. Audri feels like the kind of character who will only grow more compelling as the series unfolds. The moody Pacific Northwest setting adds a perfect layer of tension and mystery. I enjoyed the narration and story so much that I bought the eBook as well. If this first book is any indication, J.J. Ellen is an author to watch.
