In the near future the medical industry will control the economy, as almost any injury, defect or disease can be repaired by replacing organs and limbs with lifelike replacements. But that doesn't explain why a minor sports celebrity underwent a massive surgical procedure to remove all his synthetic parts and was then executed. Nor does it clarify why someone is researching how to blend human and animal DNA. Or why the world's largest medical corporation is engaging in massive fraud, encouraging young people to mutilate themselves in order to receive cybernetic replacement parts. Three detectives each work their individual cases, but soon find them somehow related. As they work the evidence, they begin to wonder if they have stumbled upon a secret project that could lead to forever freeing mankind from the chains of evolution, and allow the human race to at last turn its back on God himself.
