I loved reading this book when I was a kid, many years ago, and to be able to listen to it was very enjoyable. A fantastic, compelling story that I highly recommend.

Brought back good memories!

I love the story and the intensity and confusion of slake. I was surprised by the flatness of Neil Patrick Harris' performance but it's his take on the story. definitely recommended for an imaginative and empathetic youngster.

as good as I remember from middle school in the 80s.

It’s been over 50 years since this book has come out, but it’s meaning and the things that flake went through I still valid. It’s very very easy to be overlooked and it’s very easy to be taken advantage of slake survives though. Through bravery on his part, and also through persistence, he overcomes quite a few challenges to actually make a life for himself, although temporary. Who knows where the story will lead as it ends on a question but it is a story well written well received, and should be read by everyone.

A touching survival story
