Brom
Set in Colonial New England, Slewfoot is a tale of magic and mystery, of triumph and terror as only dark fantasist Brom can tell it.
Connecticut, 1666.
An ancient spirit awakens in a dark wood. The wildfolk call him Father, slayer, protector.
The colonists call him Slewfoot, demon, devil.
To Abitha, a recently widowed outcast, alone and vulnerable in her pious village, he is the only one she can turn to for help.
Together, they ignite a battle between pagan and Puritan – one that threatens to destroy the entire village, leaving nothing but ashes and bloodshed in their wake.
“If it is a devil you seek, then it is a devil you shall have!”

Featured Article: The top 100 horror books of all time
This list encompasses the full spectrum of what horror can be—campfire-worthy tales, stomach-churning gore, and incisive social commentary. The classics are accounted for, but it also spotlights more recent titles, because that’s the nature of the genre—it is as perennial as it is ever-evolving, conjuring whatever frights most haunt our collective consciousness. Each title does have one thing in common: It makes for devilishly good listening. So cut the lights and press play—if you dare.

I do wonder sometimes who hurt Brom to make him write such wonderfully dark things that strike to the core the way they do.

As for the story in itself, I thought it was good, not great, but still very good! I thought the beginning dragged on and I wanted to see more of Slewfoot and the wild folk in the beginning vs the puritans in Connecticut.
The ending was good, also not great, and I did wish the demise of a certain character was switched with another and I think I would have been more satisfied with that.
Definitely a fan of Brom and this book!
Excitedly gruesome and enthralling
