These characters all rang true for me. Many firefighters in my family and the relationships and situations sounded like they came from family dinner. Was happy she didn't follow the normal book trope regarding the victim about an hour from the end. Realistic.

I liked the small town aspect of it , the sweet love was nice plus their friendships
