A veteran of over 11 years in the British Police as an Authorized Firearms Officer, rising to the elite level of a Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officer (CTSFO) gave Paul a wealth of training and experiences in the practicalities of carrying and deploying a firearm. He was also a Firearms Instructor passing on his own training to others and getting them to an elite level. In 2013 he moved to the United States, which has a very different ‘gun culture’ than the UK! Using his skills and experiences in SCO19, he became an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer and Pistol Instructor. He also designed and taught training courses for complete novice and experienced shooters alike. For over 2 decades he has provided firearms training to people completely new to guns, afraid of guns, not afraid enough of guns, Police (UK and US), Veterans, and civilians who take their training seriously.

These experiences, formed from direct observation of people across a wide demographic of skill and backgrounds - plus many repeated questions about what people ‘should’ do - became the impetus for this book.

So You Want to Get a Gun? delves into the realities of responsible gun ownership :
- Safety Rules
- Getting Advice from 'Experts'
- What Types of Guns are 'best'
- Ammunition
- Storage
- The Law and Use of Force
- Lifestyle Changes
- and more

This is not a 'How To' book about shooting or using a firearm but it lays out the considerations an owner should have addressed and how, in fact, it might not be a good idea to purchase a firearm if it isn't right for you.

This is a great book for someone considering getting a firearm. The info is pretty much spot on. The Virtual voice narration is distracting some time confusing and really takes away from the book. I would. It pay for any book that uses AI or other computer generated content.

Great info. Horrible narration.
