Sotto le luci miserabili e iperboliche di Hollywood, Arturo Bandini sogna il successo di scrittore mentre con la mano sinistra scrive pessime sceneggiature che non vedranno mai la luce. Potrebbe essere la premessa di una tragedia, ma come sempre, in bocca a Bandini, tutte le tragedie finiscono in commedia. Anche in quest'ultimo capolavoro colpisce l'inconfondibile voce fantiana, quell'impasto di humour, candore e cattiveria che ne ha fatto uno degli scrittori piú amati dei nostri anni.
