Trapped between worlds. Potentia might be the way out. Time to kill Something.

Luke is an apprentice leather worker, training with his family to one day take over the business. He and his friends Andre, Taylor, and Zed have known each other forever, and swear that nothing will ever tear apart their friendship.

Then the Royal Decree comes. With the Dynasty of Dogs invading, and strange monsters appearing in the Hollow Kingdom, a draft has been implemented. Everyone 17 or older is required to be tested for "Potential". If they have it, they will join the mysterious and renowned Ascender Corps. If not, they will be drafted into the Legion as a forced recruit.

Three of the friends test as powerful, or dangerous, classes of Ascender. Luke is found to have Potential, barely, but when he steps through the portal to begin his training…he is pulled to a plane that shouldn't exist. With no class trainer, the possibility of survival is low. Luke decides that he wants to live, and keeping his humanity isn't going to help.

His best chance is going Full Murderhobo.

Dakota has always had a talent for detailed progression systems that feel like they would be a blast to be a part of. And Gilliland brings the world to life with various voices and expert narration. Also some great bloopers "The f*** Dakota." is my personal favorite.

Dakota and Gilliland at thier finest.

most litrpg books I've found involve harems, vulgarity, and other such. this one is not only fun, it's full of memes, and plenty of humor. I really enjoy the bloopers at the end.

good clean fun

I actually really enjoyed the book. The story has energy, a good pacing and plenty of snarky humor. Afternoon about chapter 6 or so, when their training started, I started to enjoy the narrator. Christian just can't do little girls' voices I think, cuz Luke's sister and all the scenes with his family sounded like amateur narrator work. Afterwords though he really found his groove and the story got good.

Low detail plot spoilers:

The story can be summed up as: three village teens that are subjected to decades of hard, arguably inhumane, training that changes each drastically. Sanity levels and morals take a hit. The fourth teen is acting as the narrator and we don't really experience his training in this book. None of the four are fond of the kingdom that has magicaly bound them to it's service, but it is worth saying that none becomes subjectively evil. The four were once friends, but after reuniting later in the book for a cross country quest they learn that they aren't who they use to be.

The story was good: 5 stars
A snarky action fantasy with just enough details to be entertaining, low fantasy

I'd give the narrator a 4.5 star if I could, but those first couple chapter almost made me put this down. got 4 stars

4 star overall

I'll definitely be finishing this trilogy

It gets better after a few Chapters.
