Prince Derek is set to marry Lady Lydia. Not his choice; not hers. It's his duty, so he tries to get to know his soon-to-be bride on their trek across the ocean to his kingdom.

When their ship goes down and she is lost at sea, Derek is reminded of an Old Tale, a legend in his lands. When a woman dies at sea, she might not be lost forever. He, and Lydia's handmaiden, Alyana, find a sea witch and learn that this legend might be true. But what will it cost to see Lydia again?

The Old Tales are all novellas and LGBTQ friendly.

This was a great fantasy story. The author has created a wonderfully updated mythology around traditional mermaids, sirens and magic. The hero’s journey to find his love could be compared to a number of the usual fairy tales, but the author’s imagination built on the basics to make it so much more interesting. The performance by the narrator only enhances the story.

I absolutely loved the twists at the end, and there were a bunch!

The narrator did such an amazing job with this story. I typically don’t like stories told in 3rd person but you can hardly tell with what an outstanding job the narrator did! Love the added songs and the echoing it was a perfect touch!

Amazing Narrator

I read this book before I listened to it and loved it then. It is spectacular as an audio book! The narrator does a great job of differentiating characters and voice acting in general. But the real treat for me was being able to hear and appreciate the writing and story telling. The author's story was especially beautiful and unexpected. This is truly a fairy tale for everyone regardless of who and how they love. I especially recommend if for folks who need an uplifting story with non-stereotypical relationships, lovers, friends, and family. And, don't miss the beautiful song at the end of the audiobook.

Beautifully Crafted and Sensitive!
