I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. I'm not a massive fan of mafia stories so started reading this with some trepidation, but wow, once I started I flew through it. It was non stop from the beginning!!! This author knows how to write characters and this book it was no different. Both families were well written and developed and their story lines were exciting and entertaining. It is filled with action, intrigue and everything you expect from the mafia all rolled into an apocalyptic world. Yes it sounds weird....a mafia post apocalyptic book, and while you may think it's not for you, I urge you to try it. I may update this review when I can coherently form my thoughts about the book cause all I keep wanting to say is wow!!

Ray Porter is on of the best in the business. He read this exceptionally well and brought the story alive.

Compelling story

This is a great start to a very unique and complex post apocalyptic world. The characters are compelling and engaging, enough so that you can almost relate the ‘bad guys’ in a strange way. The world really is a complex place and black and white often aren’t as clear as we’d like, driving us to places where all we can do is the best we can, even if we’re conflicted about those choices. This story is all about that. Mr. Smith weaves a world that’s terrifyingly believable and engages you from beginning to end. I’ve already pre-ordered book 2 as I cannot wait to see what happens next.

The narration is done impeccably and helps build this world i to a real one with real feeling characters. I’ll definitely be re-listening!

Awesome story of crime and corruption at its best!!!

Nicholas has hit it out of the park again with a story that could happen tomorrow. Sons of War takes us on a trip through humanity’s true nature when confronted with a world that is geared for corruption. But in the midst of all that is bad, there are those who are still good and working to do why they can to bring us back from the brink. Throw in war, corruption, mafia, crime bosses and gangs and you have the making of a non-stop drama with those characters Nicholas can weave so well. Awesome addition to an already established library of entertainment from a great author. Can’t wait for the next installment.

Very strong first installment in this new high-action series by NSS. And Ray Porter’s narration is fantastic. Expected nothing less from this duo. Quarantined? My advice for helping to ease worried minds: relax, download Sons of War, enjoy — Surely beats watching the news.
My only gripe with the book was with its extremely abrupt ending. Yes, it leaves the listener wanting more; however, not without feeling cheated (maybe my download was missing a few chapters?).
Regardless, I can’t wait to hear what happens next...

nick is a great writer.i loved the whole hell diver series. almost didn't buy this book because I thought there was no way the guy could write an amazing series like hell divers and have the skill to write another suck you in and feel every emotion book. yet he came through. can't wait to read the next ones on this series.
