Four guardians. One mortal girl. A forbidden bond.

Nia's long-awaited day is coming: her marriage to her betrothed, Celyn.

So when news of Celyn's death reach her, she is willing to do anything to bring him back, even venture to the forbidden Annwn, where the power to bring the dead back to life lies.

But the path is fraught with dangers. And guarding the way are the four princes of death: Cadfael, Gareth, Bran, and Rhys. Though that is soon about to change. As the irresistible beauty and resolve of the mortal girl penetrate their defenses, the godly princes find themselves lending their aid to Nia.

As their journey continues, the princes realize that the mortal girl might hold more power over their lives than they over hers.

Soul Mates is a reverse harem fantasy novel, the first book in the Soul Mates series.

I was really interested in the potential for the characters, but the story felt rushed and the characters under developed. But a bad listen but I wouldn't buy a second book

not bad but not great

The performer has a pleasant voice but kept misreading or mispronouncing words.

The story has a bubblegum YA feel with a few NA moments.

The storyline is interesting but the execution is somewhat lacking. Characters are 2 dimensional, lacking depth. I wanted more as the story had more to offer and the author has the talent.

One girl's quest to bring back her betrothed from the dead leads her to her destiny with four guardian brothers.

The most memorable moment included the familiars helping with the magical cauldron tasks, but the private moment with Bran in the moonlight was definitely my favourite. I found the reverse harem aspect to be unbalanced compared to the other RH's I've read. One brother is immediately drawn to the heroine, while the others are either friendly, lukewarm, and guarded, if not openly hostile. Their arrangement was also different: akin to the male equivalent of sister-wives and live-in concubines.

The narration was fine, though I counted three times when the same line was repeated in succession. Overall, I'd give this 2.5 stars. Hopefully the next book will be better.

More YA Fantasy than Reverse Harem

It was a seeking story. It felt like more of an overview and could be developed more. I liked the cooperation between the characters. The characters and relationships should have been more developed to understand why Nia made the choices she did. There was barely any romantic physical contact during the store; so, I felt the sex scene was thrown in at the end.

The narrator had good emotion, but mispronounced many words. It kept throwing me out of the story and, in some cases, used the wrong word, changing the meaning. ( one horse was a bitter instead of a biter).

Book was ok, reader less so

I totally enjoyed listening to this book. The pace of the narration was just right and all the voices were as I was hearing in my head when I first read the story. I tried reading and listening first but abandoned the reading to just listen. The characters were believable and the world well described. Highly recommend.
