This personal story about a spiritual journey away from Christianity is an honest examination of what we can know about God. Popular religious beliefs and practices are challenged, with potential new information for those who may be questioning their faith.

After formal academic study of religion, Baptist minister David Ramsey became agnostic and left the ministry altogether. In this book, he shares how his search for truth led to personal doubts about the foundation of Christianity, the resurrection of Jesus, and eventually the very existence of God.

Why should someone be a Christian when they may have similar doubts about God? Those who search for a new spiritual path may be compelled to ask themselves difficult questions about Christianity and Jesus.

Is there proof of God in this world? As a former minister reflects on God and religion, it is clear that we don’t know sh*t.

This book is an easy, but at times, heavy listen.

I too made the journey from Christian minister to agnostic in my mid-40's, so I can relate to Ramsey's story. However, he spends far too much of the book quoting philosophers, intellectuals, poets, and celebrities - time that could have been spent expounding on his own personal journey. Too many of other people's words and not enough of his own ... This is a good narrative for someone who has already left their faith, but not for someone who might be questioning or conflicted about leaving their faith. If you are just starting to doubt, you are better off listening to Dan Barker's "Godless". Ramsey's book is still a good read (listen?), just not personal enough.

Good story, but not relatable enough

Ramsey had me swirling between misty-eyed, truly fascinated, and laughing out-loud the whole time. This book is a brilliant and unique perspective on this formidable topic, a must read/listen for anyone with an open mind and a great sense of humor. Narration is a perfect match.

Brilliant perspectives, fantastic story telling

this is a logical look into the existence of a god. There are very few biblical scriptures, which are subject to interpretation. instead David shows very logically why one should question their faith and take a logical serious assessment of why they believe the way they do. He is also an inspiration because he had the honesty to not continue living a lie and be try to himself at great cost when he realized that the sermons he had spent his life preaching all his life were not from a god, and he gave up the ministry and started a new life where he could look himself in the mirror and not be ashamed.

if you question the existence of God, read this.

The book summed up things about God I have always felt but could not put into words.

God is capricious and child-like.

The author obviously struggled with his deconversion from Christianity. The emotions are honest, true and very raw. I've heard the author speak recently, and his feelings have mellowed over time. But this is as honest a memoir of the loss of faith as you will ever hear.
The production and performance are first rate. It's well worth a credit, and your time.

This is a raw story.
