We were never alone. A prescient rendering of a dark cyberpunk future. A neon dystopia with a Lovecraftian flair. There are worlds around us that we cannot see...and some we cannot escape.

In the future, parallel planes of existence and their inhabitants have become known to humanity. These are the spectral worlds.

Abernathy Squire, an agent for the Homeland, is reluctant to come out of retirement. A century has passed since the Spectral Wars. The world has changed. The elite have fled to other planes, and those left in the sprawling megacities are ruled by the five syndicates. No longer hidden, the Spectral races now mingle with the forever-young mortals. But a friend and an artifact have gone missing, and this is his chance to settle an old score.

If you listen from chapter 16 to 19 you hear how narration works, how editors have to cut out coughs, oopses, lines spoken twice, gaps where narrator looses his place and has to trace back where he was. Overal very poor editing.

the story itself is not that bad, nothing great or maybe thats just because i'm not sucked in to the story because the poor editing job.

needs editing

While the book is excellent, the Audible audio performance is unedited. The reading performer is excellent BUT one whole chapter is of awful sound quality and in several chapters the listener is treated to raw recording of the reading performer pausing, stumbling, saying "Oh, FUCK, taking a drink of water, then continuing on. These things happen, but they should be edited out of the final audio product! What the hell, Audible? Don't you have sound editors? If I were the book author, I'd be furious!
The book is excellent. Audible, I want my money back.

Book excellent. Unedited recording.
