Interesting Story

I've found the short books in this collection to be very different. Maybe it's the genre? Narration is great, and the story is too. I was rooting for the tortoise. Just unusual to me. But anyhow, good job.

a lot to be desired....the storyline was a bit bland for me...I wouldn't recommend this book at.

Karen Russell is such a delight

I really do love Karen Russell's work. She's so utterly absurd and delightful, but not so over the top that I can't believe in the characters. I wish she'd do another novel, but I'll take something like this, for sure. They should have just given her the Pulitzer for Swamplandia! That was such a scam. If you don't know what I'm talking about, Google it, it was such an awful pile of garbage what they did to her and the other contenders. Anyway, though, get this. It's really good.

Started slow

Started slow but got better toward the end. Unfortunately I didn’t care enough about these characters to save it.

totally took a turn

it actually was ok. The narrator wasn't great but mundane which fit the character.
Then the meaning came out at the end of the story.
