In the days of the western frontier, where mining companies put up towns, paid workers a pittance and hired their own security, they often hired a Marshal. Similar to a Sheriff, but with no town council or mayor getting in the way.
But mines have their draw for outlaws. If it is not the silver or gold bullion, it is always the pay wagons.
Marshal Cord Loninger, ex-Texas Ranger was lured to such a position in Cactus City, NM. But he soon discovered that the mining company would not hire deputies. So, it was his job to stand the front line and stop the threats. He was good at it.
But somehow, he found himself over his head, all for the love of a beautiful maiden... He will learn to be a better man, and she will be his woman. Together, they can handle... anything, right? We shall see...
