New York Times bestselling author Beth Revis brings to life the early adventures and heartbreaks of the heroine of the smash hit movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

When Jyn Erso was five years old, her mother was murdered and her father taken from her to serve the Empire. But despite the loss of her parents she is not completely alone-Saw Gerrera, a man willing to go to any extremes necessary in order to resist Imperial tyranny, takes her in as his own, and gives her not only a home but all the abilities and resources she needs to becomea rebel herself.

Jyn dedicates herself to the cause-and the man. But fighting alongside Saw and his people brings with it danger and the question of just how far Jyn is willing to go as one of Saw's soldiers. When she faces an unthinkable betrayal that shatters her world, Jyn will have to pull the pieces of herself back together and figure out what she truly believes in... and who she can really trust.

I absolutely loved Rogue One (Even more than The Force Awakens) and Jyn Erso was such a great, mysterious, strong character. She clearly had a lot of backstory, but the film never dug into it.

This book Released yesterday covers the years between Saw rescuing Jyn from the cave after her mother's death, and her father going With the Empire / to her rescue by K-2SO at the beginning of Rogue One.

Saw watches over a Young Jyn and teaches her how to fight and enables her forgery skills. We learn how and why Saw and Jyn parted ways and what happened to her next. That was only alluded to in the movies, This 2nd part is where the story picks up as Jyn builds a new life away from the Empire and the start of the Rebellion. After her rather impersonal life with Saw,

I enjoyed the second half of the story where Jyn finds her humanity again as she starts to form opinions on the big galactic conflict.

Her early years with Saw are (by necessity) dreary and sterile and, well, lengthy, but the second half really does pick up the story

While we know the ultimate outcome of these characters this does not detract from the story at all.

Very very good book everyone should check it out, Highly Recommended.

This provides some really cool backstory and context to Jin's involvement with the rebels. The narration was top notch, and the story keep me engaged the whole time.

Jyn Erso is one of my favorite, most relatable Star Wars characters because of this book!

this title was well written filled with information that added value to the cannon. I appreciate that it held true to the universe I grew up on, without being affected by current philosophies. For me Star Wars is about the story, the excitement, and the characters. it's a break from the chaos of this world. Very thankful for a well-written story that takes me back to my childhood.

Way better than Ashoka....
