No sooner has Darth Vader's funeral pyre burned to ashes on Endor than the Alliance intercepts a call for help from a far-flung Imperial outpost. Bakura is on the edge of known space and the first to meet the Ssi-ruuk, cold-blooded reptilian invaders who, once allied with the now dead Emperor, are approaching Imperial space with only one goal; total domination. Princess Leia sees the mission as an opportunity to achieve a diplomatic victory for the Alliance. But it assumes even greater importance when a vision of Obi-Wan Kenobi appears to Luke Skywalker with the message that he must go to Bakura-or risk losing everything the Rebels have fought so desperately to achieve.© and (P)1993 Lucasfilm Ltd. and TM. This book was hard to read through but made a great audio book. As a audio book it make the story interesting catching.

Not bad

The book was amazing, only down side was the narration, many terrible mispronunciations, nothing that ruined the story.

It may seem petty, and that’s because its supposed to be, that is the only one thing I disliked about the book.

Fantastic story

I've never appealed to abridged novels. I wish they made an Unabridged version like they did the Thrawn Trilogy. I'm not always able to sit and read so I can't always pick up the book and just read. Often times, when I'm busy, I can have an audiobook on to listen to. The Thrawn Trilogy read by Marc Thompson was incredible. if only they'd do that for all these legends books.

Too short

The narration/performance left something to be desired, especially considering that I had just before, listened to Revan and Deceived, from the Old Republic series, which were masterfully done. I just don't care for abridgment I guess. Still, it was a great story and I enjoyed it thoroughly, as I'm sure any true fan would.

Brevity and clarity leaves something out

While not my favorite tale in the EU it beats the new books by miles. Even abridged. It takes place minutes after RTOJ. Wedge Antillies discovers a message sent to the Empire from Bukura. A message pleading for the now dead Palpatine’s help. Instead, with newly knighted Jedi Luke Skywalker (yeah the one you remember), Han, Leia, and Chewbacca to help. While welcome at first (Bukura is an Imperial planet) the threat of the Ssi-Ruuk invasion... I like to listen to think of the abridged books as audiomovies of paperbacks I love.
