The National Book Award-winning author of Felix Ever After delivers a beautifully tender story of two grumpy/sunshine, fake-dating actors navigating their love story both on and offscreen—perfect for fans of Casey McQuiston and Alexis Hall.

Logan Gray is Hollywood's bad boy—a talented but troubled actor who the public loves to hate. Mattie Cole is an up‑and‑coming golden boy, adored by all but plagued by insecurities.

When Logan and Mattie are cast as leads in a new romantic film, Logan claims that Matt has “zero talent,” sending the film’s publicity into a nosedive. To create positive buzz, the two are persuaded into a fake‑dating scheme—but as the two actors get to know their new characters, real feelings start to develop.

As public scrutiny intensifies and old wounds resurface, the two must fight for their relationship and their love.
A heartfelt, hopeful, and nuanced story about identity, healing, and growth.

First of all, the vocal performances brought so much depth to the characters and was a good representation, an incredible performance truly. The story from start to finish was very moving and unpredictable just like the emotions of the characters but it's what made the book what it is. This isn't a perfect romance story where they fall in love by chance and live happily ever after with no conflicts but the conflicts are genuine and the way they overcome them is because of one another despite them not being together. It's a story about the impact someone can have on your life and it's moving. I 100% recommend!

It feels genuine

Listening to this book and hearing the characters’ stories and traumas has made me stop and think on my own traumas and how I need to heal. There’s a lot of hurting in this book and it may not be for everyone but if you can bear through the painful to hear parts the story is absolutely beautiful.

I do regret spending a credit in this. No substance . It does touch on certain topics but not really., it’s idk. Simple.

I really like this story. There are triggers(beware). The trauma makes the story more realistic. I didn't like the racism in the story. I have lived in the South my whole life and maybe I am just lucky that I dont see color like some but more character of a person.

Great story!
