The stations of the cross, as with many devotional forms within the Catholic Church, has developed over the centuries. The practice of walking the Via Dolorosa began with pilgrims to the Holy Land in Jerusalem during the Crusades and was brought back to the local parish churches by those pilgrims and crusaders. St. Alphonsus Liguouri authored a standard form in the 1700s that continues to be used in parishes today.

In this book, I have tried to preserve some of those traditional aspects while also adding verses of scripture and meditations to aid in our reconciliation with our loving Father. This can be used as an individual or guided group devotional and is not just meant for the Lenten season but can be used anytime during the church year.

Stations of the Cross

I really like this version of The Stations of the Cross. Bible verses are cited for each station. The meditations force you to look in your own life for the issues presented in the journey. The prayers are then presented. The final prayer for each station is intoned. I like listening to this every Friday, not just the Fridays during Lent. The price is phenomenal for what you are getting.

This is so handy to have on my phone! The Stations are clearly read, and it's nice to have a Biblical reading paired with each one, along with a few words to guide meditation with each. I also like the inclusion of the Anima Christi at the end. It's a great prayer to reflect on after meditating on the Stations.
